What started out in a small town just outside of Detroit has delivered Cat Fisher to South Orange, New Jersey. The journey has taught her many lessons, but right now it’s this: We’re all in this together.
Cat studied fashion at Illinois Institute of Art in Chicago and then spent the next 13 years crisscrossing the country as an Urban Outfitters employee. She learned the retail business inside and out, top to bottom, and along the way, she started to get the urge to open her own store that better reflected her values.
Sadie’s opened in Nov. 2017. Sadie was Cat’s cat. Well, she was her boyfriend’s cat, and when she married her boyfriend, Sadie became her cat, too. Sadie died in 2015 and naming the store for her is Cat’s way of keeping her close. She was warm and kind and inviting, and that’s the spirit Cat envisions for the store.
Cat sells women’s and men’s clothes and home goods from local suppliers and suppliers who believe in and work toward a sustainable future. To that end, Sadie’s donates 1% of every sale to charity. Cat chooses a different charity every month because there are so many important causes to support right now. We’re all in this together!
Cat loves being involved in the community — with you — because it gives her a sense of fulfillment and purpose.
