ROSEMARY OSTMANN owns a boutique communications firm in Hoboken, New Jersey where she lived for 12 years before moving to Maplewood with her husband and two children. A Maryland native, Rosemary started her career as a copywriter in Washington, DC, and worked for two different advertising agencies in Baltimore before taking a job in New York City to try living somewhere else for “a bit." That was 18 years ago.
This year marks Rosemary’s 25th anniversary in the public relations business. She’s created and directed communications strategies for some of the best known brands in business, including Sony, United Airlines, Procter & Gamble, Weight Watchers, and Cigna, to name a few. Her firm, RoseComm, also handles social justice campaigns for the likes of the Committee to Protect Journalists and the American Civil Liberties Union of New Jersey. Rosemary and her team have several national awards to their credit, including the Public Relations Society of America’s Silver Anvil, the SABRE Award, and the Bulldog Award.
Rosemary graduated from the University of Maryland with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a minor in Spanish. She is an active alum, helping to shape the strategic direction of the Phillip Merrill College of Journalism and planning networking events for NYC-based graduates. In her free time, Rosemary can be found – err, heard – on the sidelines of her kids’ sports games, drinking wine with her book club friends, cuddling with her dog, Moses, or planning her family’s next vacation.
After crafting and telling stories for countless organizations over the years, she’s both humbled and excited to step onto the Listen To Your Mother stage to share one of her own. You can follow Rosemarry on Twitter @rosecomm and on Instagram @rosemaryostmann.
